But, you could stream 4K movies to three separate TVs at the same time with 61Mbps, so at the end of the day it's all relative to what you can and can't do with the speed. You can do pretty much anything with this package, and the £60 voucher reward, low, low price and lack of set-up fee make Sky's Broadband Superfast very tempting indeed.

Normally, if anyone asks us which broadband deal to get as a flat question, this is the one we recommend, if you can get it (since Virgin Media is only available to around 55-60% of UK households). At 132Mbps, this deal is ridiculously fast – no household really needs more. And, in this case you'll get £95 back as bill credit, and Virgin Media has waived its usual set-up fee. A great deal, but because not everyone can get it, it would be our second choice right now.

It may not be the fastest broadband deal in the world, but BT's Fibre 2 is a solid choice. Not least because 67Mbps is perfectly adequate for most households, but also because BT's service is premium in the extreme. You'll get one of the best routers in the biz, stellar customer service and seamless installation. The £50 reward card you'll also get with this deal is a bonus, but at the time of writing there's no money off and no free set-up – we've definitely seen better deals from BT. So if BT is your chosen provider, we recommend keeping an eye out over the next couple of weeks.
