It's that day again. Black Friday is here and there are literally dozens of deals available for the occasion on broadband. So many, in fact, that finding the best of the best is going to be a hard ask. Nonetheless we have plumbed the depths to extract the very best Black Friday has to offer.
We've cast our expert eyes across all the best Black Friday deals if all you need is a broadband package. Here are our top three picks.
Sky's Broadband Superfast may not be the fastest broadband out there – it definitely isn't – however, many overestimate how much speed they actually need. This Sky Broadband Superfast deal average 61Mbps, which is plenty for most households. At just £25 per month, Sky has waived its usual £19.95 set-up fee, and will furnish you with a £100 reward card which you can claim once you're up and running.
BT's popular Fibre 2 broadband package is at one of its lowest prices ever for Black Friday. Get this: For a broadband package averaging 67Mbps, BT is waiving its usual £29.99 set-up fee, then on top of that it's offering the first six months of the contract at half-price. Then, the cherry on the cake is the £110 reward card you can claim once you're set up, giving you an overall saving of £241.99. The only downside here is it's a 24-month contract, so you'll be tied in for two years. Our opinion? Worth it.
Need something faster? Virgin Media has you covered with this incredible deal on its M500 package, which offers average speeds of 516Mbps. That's just blisteringly quick. Virgin Media has waived its usual setup fee of £35, and on top of that cut the monthly cost from £62 to £33 – a £29 per month discount that, importantly, runs the entire length of the 18-month contract. If you can use broadband this fast, and you can get Virgin Media where you live, this deal's a no-brainer.
If your needs extend beyond just broadband and you'd like to add a subscription TV package, all three providers who offer comprehensive broadband and TV have special deals for Black Friday. There are the best.
Virgin Media's crowning glory is its Ultimate Volt Bundle, which offers staggeringly fast 1130Mbps broadband, over 230 channels, including BT Sport, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and Netflix, free anytime calls from the included landline and a 10GB O2 mobile SIM. It's not just a lot, it's a lot a lot. Of course, this deal isn't exactly cheap, but this Black Friday, Virgin Media is knocking off the set-up fee and reducing the monthly cost by £5, saving you a total of £143.
Sky has dropped the price of its TV Essentials + Superfast Broadband bundle. Normally £42 per month, Sky's knocking off £8 per month making a total saving of £8 per month. That may not sound like much, but it adds up, saving you a total of £144 across the length of the contract. Sky is still charging a set-up fee of £29.95, but this is still a good deal in our opinion. You'll get over 200 TV channels, 61Mbps (average) broadband and a pay-as-you-talk landline.
This may look like an odd deal at first glance, what with its 43 TV channels and lengthy contract. But it aims to do one thing and one thing only: To cater be the ultimate bundle for sports fans. You'll get 67Mbps broadband, BT's brand new BT TV Box Pro, all free to air channels as well as AMC, and then there's the sport. Not only will you get all four BT Sport channels, but also all 11 Sky Sports channels and Eurosport 1 & 2. Just bear in mind that headline price is for the first six months only, as the price rises steeply thereafter.
'Ultrafast' has a number of different meanings depending on which provider you ask. Broadly, though, it's a package that's faster than standard fibre (also called FTTC), which maxes out at about 80Mbps. Speeds for 'Ultrafast' then, have a wide range. Sadly, the availability also falls off a cliff, so you'll have to check if you can get it where you live. Having said all that, here are the best ultrafast deals for Black Friday.
Sky's 500Mbps Broadband Ultrafast Plus, may not be available everywhere – far from it – but if you can get it, it's a corker. You'll get astoundingly fast broadband – ideal for you big downloaders out there. Who are big downloaders? Gamers, basically. Sky is waiving its usual £19.95 set-up fee on this deal, and throwing in a £100 reward card which you can claim once you're all hooked up. Overall you'll save £119.95 versus the regular price.
Plusnet has long been a favourite among customers due to its excellent customer service reputation. Now owned by BT nothing has really changed there. It's currently offering its super-quick 500Mbps Full Fibre 500 package with a £75 reward card, which you can claim once your broadband is up and running. Bear in mind you won't get a phone line with this deal (which increasingly suits many), and the contract is rather long at 24 months. Still, £37.99 per month for 500Mbps broadband is absolutely crazy value.
BT's gone about this a different way. It too offers 'faster than anyone really needs' 500Mbps broadband this Black Friday in the form of its Full Fibre 500 deal. It's waiving its usual £29.99 set-up fee, cutting its price in half for the first six months of the contract, and throwing in a £50 reward card. In total that'll save you £217.99. BT Broadband is a quality service where you'll get the speed promised or money back. Its Ultrafast packages are up to 25 times faster than increasingly inaccurately named 'superfast' fibre.
