Hurry offer ends December 21st

Though Black Friday is firmly behind us, Virgin Media has been saving one last hurrah before the year is out. Right now, and up until December 21, Virgin Media Broadband packages are half-price for the first six months of your contract, meaning there's no better time to get stuck into the UK's fastest and most reliable widely available broadband.

Virgin Media Broadband just got incredibly cheap

If you can get it, Virgin Media Broadband is almost certainly the best game in town when it comes to home broadband provision, with insanely fast download speeds, good upload speeds and high reliability, all delivered via Virgin Media's excellent WiFi Hub – a beast of a router with excellent range and features.

Is it the cheapest broadband in the country? No. However, cheapest does not always mean best, and this new Virgin Media Broadband deal does offer the best prices at its various speed tiers – namely its M125, M250, M350 and M500 packages, which offer download speeds of 132Mbps, 264Mbps, 362Mbps and 516Mbps respectively.

No set-up fees

Virgin Media is also currently waiving its set-up and installation fees, meaning there’s nothing to pay up-front.

Each of these deals comes on an 24-month contract and, depending on whether you already have a Virgin Media cable coming into your home, will in most cases require an engineer visit to install. Typically this takes around two weeks from sign-up till you're up and running, and since it involves routing a cable through the outside wall of your property does require permission from your landlord if you don't own your home.

Compare Virgin Media broadband

Virgin Media offers high speed satisfaction

The Cable.co.uk broadband customer survey asked 6,000 UK broadband customers what they thought of their broadband provider. The results of that survey put Virgin Media near the top of the leaderboard when it comes to satisfaction of the speed received versus the speed promised.

Broadband speeds shown by providers represent an average of the speeds received by their customers, and you'll notice that in Virgin Media's case, these averages are higher than the package names suggest. So, for example, the M125 package actually offers and average speed of 132Mbps. By far and away, most Virgin Media customers get the speeds they were expecting.

You can bundle Virgin Media TV, home phone and even an O2 SIM with your deal

Virgin Media is what's known in the biz as a 'quad-play' provider. That is, it also offers subscription TV on a par with Sky, various landline packages, and even one or more O2 SIMs that can be bundled in. You can include all of these in your package and still take advantage of a super-low bundle price.

In fact if, for example, you chose to take out Virgin Media's Big Bundle – which includes broadband, over a hundred channels of TV (and Netflix), and Weekend Chatter, Virgin's free weekend calling landline offering, you'll be paying just £29.99 per month for the entire length of the 18-month contract. Just be sure and make a mental note of when your contracts ends, since after that the price rises steeply and it may be once again time to consider switching.

Broadband near you

Cable.co.uk's broadband postcode checker will find you the best deals, providers and speeds where you live. It's free and takes less than a minute to check and compare.

Cable.co.uk has an even better deal on Virgin Media broadband only

If you're considering taking up this deal and only want broadband (no TV, no phone line, no O2 SIM), then Cable.co.uk has an exclusive offer right now that can save you even more money. Our exclusive deal isn't quite half-price for the first six months, but includes a £50 bill credit, which works out slightly less for the cost of the contract overall.

For example, our Virgin Media Broadband M125 package deal is discounted from £44 per month to £26 per month for the first six months (so not quite half price). But on top of that you'll receive that £50 bill credit, which will save you a further couple of quid on the price of the contract overall. It's a narrow difference, but every little helps!

Cable.co.uk deals have a shorter contract length

Where our exclusive deal really wins out, though, is that the half-price deals Virgin is offering up until 21 December are on 24 month contracts, whereas our exclusive deals are only 18 months long. That means you save a greater proportion of your total contract cost, and you’re not tied in for two years.

Virgin Media is not available everywhere

Virgin Media operates its own private network for broadband and TV, while other providers operate on Openreach, the network owned by BT. Sadly, this means availability isn't as complete as many other providers, with Virgin only reaching around 55-60% of UK households. For this reason you'll need to check if it's available where you live. You can do this via our own postcode checker.
