What does BT Business broadband offer?

Dan Howdle Dan Howdle

BT Business broadband lets you choose from two broadband types: superfast fibre and ultrafast fibre. Within these categories, you can opt for a basic version or a version with certain extra features.

Note that unlike with getting BT Broadband for your home, you cannot bundle TV options such as BT Sport with BT Business broadband.

  • Superfast and ultrafast broadband – BT Business offers two speeds for business broadband customers: up to 76Mbps superfast and up to 900Mbps Ultrafast.
  • Phone lines – BT Business flexible landline services to businesses. You can request a standard phone line through which multiple customers can interact with your business simultaneously. You can also add extra calling features, such as automatic redirects and three-way calling. For customers on Ultrafast connections, a VoIP service is available.
  • Business Mobile SIMs and phones – BT Mobile can supply your business with whatever it needs in the way of mobile communications, from SIMs to tablets or mobile phones. You can buy new devices or swap in existing ones for better versions. The company also offers contactless card readers (made by Square) to enable businesses to accept payments conveniently through their mobile phones.
  • Leased lines and bespoke solutions – If you have a large business or corporation, BT Business offers bespoke leased line solutions that offer ultrafast speeds to firms with dozens or hundreds of employees. With a leased line, you can choose speeds of 50Mbps, 100Mbps or a whopping 10Gbps, but they cost more than fibre broadband packages.
  • Collaboration Tools – BT offers collaboration tools to help employees within an enterprise coordinate tasks seamlessly. The collaborative tools include RCS Business messaging, audio/video-conferencing (Cisco Webex), and cloud storage through Microsoft 365.

BT Business landline packages and extras

Depending on which package you choose, you’ll get either a traditional phone line or a digital one hosted in the cloud. The digital version gives you all the features of a traditional phone system plus more flexibility to take calls from anywhere and less money spent on hardware and maintenance.

  • Three service levels for your line – BT offers three service levels for business phone lines; Value phone line, Standard phone line, and Featureline. The first guarantees fault repairs in two working days while the other two guarantee repairs within one working day. You can add unlimited UK calls and international call packages to the Value and Standard phone lines, but you must sign up for a 24-month contract to do so.
  • Extra calling features – You can add extra calling features for a fee. These features include a Call Sign that sets distinctive ring tones for specific incoming numbers, reminder calls, call barring, three-way calling for audio-conferencing, ring back, and call diversion. The more features you add, the less expensive the total price becomes.
  • Free calling features – BT offers some calling features as standard (without requiring an extra payment), including BT 1471 (to find out the last calling number), BT Answer 1571 (an answering service for when you're away from the phone), and caller display.

Why choose BT Business broadband?

BT is perhaps the UK’s best-known brand when it comes to home telecoms supply, and BT Business broadband offers various extras depending on what you need and how much you are willing to spend.

  • Traditional or digital phone lines – A traditional phone line uses physical wires, making them very reliable. But, you can get the same calling features of a traditional phone line powered by cloud computing instead of physical wires. Digital, cloud-based phone lines are less expensive to set up and you’re not limited in connection by physical wires. However, the downside is less reliability than a traditional phone line.
  • Static IP address(es) – You can request a static IP address when ordering your BT Business broadband package. A static IP address, as the name suggests, doesn't change, so you can use it to host an in-house server with great reliability.
  • 4G Assure –.With 4G assure, your BT broadband connection will automatically switch to 4G mobile broadband when there is a fault with a 5G connection, ensuring that you don’t lose connection to the internet.
  • Cybersecurity –You can protect multiple devices across platforms -- Macs, PCs, smartphones, and tablets -- with antivirus software provided by McAfee. BT also integrates encrypted cloud backup provided by Acronis.
  • Enhanced IT support – Included in all Enhanced BT Business broadband deals, enhanced IT support provides a 24/7 UK-based support team. This service is akin to your business having its own remote IT department.
  • Digital Services – BT business broadband customers have access to an array of digital services, including a multi-channel marketing platform and domain registration.
  • Partner Offers – Business broadband customers can take advantage of exclusive offers and benefits from BT's partner network, such as 2% cashback with Barclaycard and 15% off Federation of Small Business (FSB) membership.
  • Keep the same number for life – With any package that includes a digital phone line (Cloud Voice Express), you can keep using your business number for life, regardless of if you switch from BT to another broadband provider. Such consistency is important for a business, so customers don’t have to stretch their brains to know how to reach out to you.
  • Call filtering – Blocks calls from numbers appearing on BT’s blacklist, which BT updates regularly.
  • Option where available BT offers ultrafast speed of up to 900Mbps for users, which is exceedingly fast. Nowadays, you can get similar speeds from other broadband providers, but BT was one of the first to offer such fast speeds.
